        Carol's Background of Art

Carol Chang's works romances the infinite colour palette to create a world of her own through her paintings, reminding viewers that a single shade of brown that one sees in a chocolate chip cookie is in fact not brown, but rather hazelnut dancing with swirls of yellow. Perhaps it is Carol’s various forms of sensory impairments and handicaps that make room for her inherent talent of viewing a reality with such a prismatic lens. Though these conditions can be viewed as defects, Carol has always been able to surpass the hardships attached to them with her intrinsic strength and ebullience. Her life experiences have nurtured in her a very deep sense of self and allowed Carol a third person perspective of her interactions with the world. From this position, Carol finds inspiration to paint the world with a candour soul.

Carol's personal interpretation of the colours existing in this world is affected by her moods and memories of places, people, and stories. Her ability to piece together colours and shapes that are not conventionally used in the illustration is innate. Most recently Carol has been learning under the guidance of Gloria Benedetto, who has further encouraged and embraced her use of vibrancy and unorthodox methods of blending colours. In her collection of paintings are buildings from abroad, tributes to late artists, food, family, and much else that is close to her heart.
